(Tuesday, March 26, 2024) – The announcement that Dr. Carmine Peluso is leaving his post as superintendent of the Rochester City School District has prompted a response from Mayor Malik D. Evans. Mayor Evans expressed his sentiments towards Dr. Peluso's departure, stating, "The announcement that Dr. Carmine Peluso is leaving his post as superintendent of the Rochester City School District is extremely unfortunate for Rochester."

Mayor Evans further acknowledged Dr. Peluso's contributions, saying, "I have appreciated Dr. Peluso’s commitment to and leadership of our schools, as well as the strong relationship he and I have built. Together, we had begun to make important progress for the benefit of city students, and I am very sad to see him go."

Recognizing the importance of strong leadership in the education system, Mayor Evans emphasized, "It is imperative that the Rochester City School District obtain and maintain strong leadership for the young people of our city." He also highlighted the significance of education for the city's success, stating, "A successful educational system is critical to the success of Rochester, and the City stands ready to support the District as it embarks on this important transition."
