News Release - City Begins 2023-24 Fiscal Year Budget Process

Mayor Malik D. Evans kicked off the City’s 2023-2024 fiscal year budget planning process today, announcing three opportunities for public input: an online survey, an in-person facilitated input session, and a telephone town hall meeting. This year, the Mayor and the Office of Management & Budget moved the community input opportunities toward the beginning of the City’s preparation process so that public input can more effectively inform budget decisions.

“Community input is a necessity when considering how to allocate City funds,” said Mayor Evans. “Moving community input to the beginning of the budget process will allow us to hear from stakeholders before we begin the budgeting process, ensuring that their concerns are at the forefront of our decision making.”

Below are the opportunities for public input:

  • An online survey located on the City’s website (www.cityofrochester.gov/budget) available through Wednesday, Dec. 7;
  • An in-person, facilitated input session at the Willie W. Lightfoot R-Center, 271 Flint St. at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7; and
  • A Telephone Town Hall Forum at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6
To take the survey, and register for the telephone town hall meeting and the in-person session, visit www.cityofrochester.gov/budget.

The Mayor will submit his 2023-2024 fiscal budget proposal to City Council by May 12.
