Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced new appointments to key leadership positions at the Monroe Community Hospital (MCH).

Alyssa Tallo has been named Executive Director for MCH, where she had served as its Deputy Director since 2019 and as Acting Executive Director since May of 2020. Alyssa’s strong leadership has helped ensure the health and safety of hospital residents, staff, families and caregivers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She previously served as Assistant Administrator at Shore Winds Nursing Home.

“Alyssa’s enthusiasm for Monroe Community Hospital and its important role in our community is second to none,” said Bello. “She is a natural leader for the institution and has an ambitious vision for its future. Alyssa has already hit the ground running to improve care and services for MCH residents. She proved her abilities while serving as Acting Executive Director during the height of the pandemic as she fostered important relationships with staff, residents and families in order to keep everyone safe. I look forward to her continued success as Executive Director.”

“We are actually in very unique company as a community hospital, in terms of the incredible array of services we offer,” said Tallo. “Prospective residents and their families come for tours and are amazed by all of our programmatic offerings, on-site amenities, and the tremendous beauty of our physical campus. I am anxious to remind people what a jewel we have here and to support our residents and their families in any way that we can.”

Desmond Jackson will join Tallo at Monroe Community Hospital as Deputy Executive Director. He comes to MCH from Clifton Springs Nursing Home where he was an Assistant Administrator. He will fill the vacancy Tallo leaves with her promotion.

“Alyssa and Desmond represent a new generation of leadership for Monroe Community Hospital,” said Bello. “They are committed to using the latest technologies and methods of care, which will benefit our hospital as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and the evolving healthcare landscape.”

“I’m really excited to join the staff and residents of Monroe Community Hospital and continue their longstanding tradition of care and service,” said Jackson. “Whether you are an interested resident, caregiver, potential employee or a champion, we want you to know what the Monroe Community Hospital has to offer. From top-notch pediatric care, to comprehensive short-term rehabilitation programs, to on-site attractions like an auditorium that hosts year-round entertainment – we are going to make it our mission to raise awareness about what an amazing resource we have right here in Monroe County.”

MCH is a fully certified residential health care facility, providing long-term care for individuals with complex health conditions requiring higher levels of medical and nursing care. MCH provides long-term care and rehabilitation for residents of all ages, from eight-week-old infants to centenarians. Nearly three-quarters of MCH residents use wheelchairs, and the majority have complex medical and psychological needs requiring extensive medical and nursing care. Residents also have access to convenient, on-site services including in-house dental, ophthalmology, and podiatry clinics, banking and cashier services, barber, beautician and laundry services.
