In anticipation of forecasted high temperatures, Mayor Malik D. Evans announced today that the City will conduct a Cool Sweep operation on Tuesday, July 9. City R-Centers, pools, Durand Eastman Beach, some library branches, and spray parks and features will be available so residents can remain safe and comfortable. Some locations will also have extended hours.
The City’s Department of Recreation and Human Services is inviting youth ages 13-18 to participate in the R-Night Out Series, a set of free summer night events. These events will feature a live DJ, field games, a photo booth, carnival snacks, and more at the Rochester Community Sports Complex. Additionally, a special R-Night Out for individuals aged 25 and up is scheduled for August 15.

As the Maplewood Community Library undergoes a major expansion and renovation project, an alternative service location will be available starting July 8, 2024. The temporary facility is situated at the former Holy Rosary church, located at 414 Lexington Ave. It will operate from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
