The City of Rochester and Monroe County have announced the opening of applications for their Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP) and the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). These initiatives are targeted at youth aged 14 to 20, offering six weeks of paid internships. The programs are conducted in partnership with RochesterWorks and are designed for those currently enrolled in middle or high school, or pursuing a high school equivalency diploma.
Applications will remain open until all positions are filled, with early submission encouraged. Applicants must be at least 14 years old by May 31. Successful applicants will have the chance to interview for summer jobs and internships with various employers, including the City of Rochester, community organizations, colleges, and local businesses.
To apply, participants need to submit a work permit, social security card, school report card, and an official photo ID. However, applications can begin without these documents being submitted initially.
