City Hall closes for MLK Day; refuse collection delayed

Rochester City Hall and various administrative offices will close on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The closures include Neighborhood Service Centers, R-Centers, Rochester Animal Services, Rochester Public Libraries, the Rochester Traffic Violations Agency, and the Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services at 57 St. Paul St.

Refuse and recycling collection services will be postponed by one day for the rest of the week.

Ice skating facilities at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square (353 Court St.) and Genesee Valley Park Sports Complex (131 Elmwood Ave.) will operate as usual on Monday.

An annual event titled “Skate to Commemorate” will occur at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park Ice Rink on January 20. Attendees can enjoy free admission by donating a canned good. Additional details and full rink hours are available at www.cityofrochester.gov/skating/.

Rochester Animal Services will resume normal operations on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22 but will close again on Thursday, January 23 for staff training.

The City’s 311 Call Center will continue its regular schedule from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.
