Rochester DES commissioner steps down; deputy to serve as acting head

Mayor Malik D. Evans has announced a leadership change within the Department of Environmental Services (DES). Commissioner Richard Perrin will be leaving his position to explore other opportunities, with his last day set for Friday, November 15.

Mayor Evans expressed gratitude for Perrin's service, stating, "I thank Rich for his dedication and expertise over the past nearly three years. Under his leadership, the Department of Environmental Services has completed several important initiatives."

Perrin began his tenure with the City of Rochester on January 1, 2022, and was confirmed by City Council on January 18, 2022.

In the interim period following Perrin's departure, DES Deputy Commissioner Kabutey Ocansey will assume the role of Acting Commissioner until a permanent replacement is appointed.
