International Plaza celebrates Dominican Day with cultural events

This week’s International Plaza Market Sunday will celebrate Dominican Day with cultural celebrations, vendors, traditional foods, children’s activities, domino tournaments, and live music by Joel Insuperable and Banda Light from 12 to 5 p.m., August 11, 2024, at 828 N. Clinton Ave.

This year’s Dominican Day theme is “Baseball Fever” to celebrate Dominicans’ admiration for the sport, traditional game rivalries, and Dominican players’ contributions. A special exhibition will highlight Dominican players inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Visitors are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s gear.

- DJ Bonitillo

- DJ Max

- DJ Rubio

- El Chuchi

- Bohio Flow Dance

- Ara’guaco Dance Academy

There will be free parking and shuttle service available at Dr. Martin Luther King School parking lot #9 at 485 N. Clinton Ave.

Managed in collaboration with the City of Rochester and the Ibero American Development Corporation, the International Plaza features a wide variety of food, merchandise, and entertainment highlighting global cuisine, culture, and heritage. Community-based organizations are also on site to present information on services and resources available to residents.

In addition to Market Sundays, the International Plaza is open for lunch from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays. The International Plaza season runs through Oct. 13.

Vendor spaces are available with rates starting at $20 per week. Discounts are available for multiple weeks and for the season.
