Rochester Animal Services will host a Total Eclipse of the Heart free dog adoption event from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Verona Street Animal Shelter outdoor play yard in Brown Square Park, 251 Verona Street.
"Witnessing a total solar eclipse is the kind of experience that becomes a lifetime memory, so we want to give our families an opportunity to enhance their own special memories of this event by welcoming a new source of love and joy into their homes," said Dr. Shirley Green, Commissioner of the Department of Recreation and Human Services.
The event will feature eight friendly and loving dogs available for free adoption. "I want to thank our partners at Petco Love for supporting pet adoptions at Rochester Animal Services," Dr. Green added.
The City’s Rec on the Move mobile R-Center will also be on site to provide engaging activities for youth and families attending the event. Those interested in adopting a dog are encouraged to bring a collar and leash to transport their new pet home safely.
Petco Love, a non-profit animal welfare organization, is supporting the event through its Petco Love Adopt Program, which has sponsored over 6.8 million pet adoptions across the country since 1999.
