The City of Rochester is set to host R-Nopoly, a family-friendly event at Parcel 5 on Saturday, October 12. The event, inspired by the "Main Game" festival from previous decades, will run from noon to 4 p.m. at 285 E. Main St.
R-Nopoly aims to provide entertainment and showcase community resources available in Rochester. The event will feature stage performances, interactive booths with a focus on the Department of Recreation and Human Services (DRHS) programs, inflatables, carnival games, food trucks, and various competitions such as Basketball Hot Shots and a 3-Point Competition.
Visitors can explore activities offered by City R-Centers through an R-Nopoly passport system that allows them to win prizes. Highlights include programs like the R-Chef Club for ages 6-17 at Avenue D R-Center, Paint and Bake Ceramics for ages 6-16 at Edgerton R-Center, Adult Roller Skate Night for those over 18 at Willie W. Lightfoot R-Center, Wheelchair Basketball open to all ages at Trenton & Pamela Jackson R-Center, and Men of Impact for ages 13-18 at Thomas P. Ryan R-Center.
Additional booths will represent Adams Street, Carter Street, Frederick Douglass, David F. Gantt, and Hope R-Centers. These booths offer attendees a chance to meet recreation staff and learn about local services. Other participating organizations include the Mayor's Office of Financial Empowerment, College Assistance Plus, YVOV: The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, and the Ubuntu Project.
The event promises engaging activities and opportunities to connect with community resources. For more information about the event or specific programs offered by City R-Centers, inquiries can be sent via email to: RCenterInfo@CityofRochester.gov.
