Pittsford village recently issued the following announcement.
For the past two years, the Village has been collaborating with three other local governments to seek sustainable electricity sources for our communities by using community choice aggregation (CCA). This effort is in line with the Village Comprehensive Plan that calls for sustainably managing our energy demands and supporting the use of alternative energy sources and green infrastructure to reduce the Village's carbon footprint.
Last year we had 2 public information meetings about using CCA to get 100% renewable electricity for residents and small businesses at a fixed price that would be less than the previous 12-month average cost of the electricity supply that RG&E provided.
Instead of the 12-month average cost, we want to invite community feedback on the idea of using a 24-month average electricity supply price to compare to a price for a 100% renewable electricity product for the next 24 months.
The goal with this proposal would be to get 100% renewable electricity at competitive rates. A presentation on this topic will be made at the October 27th meeting of the Village Board of Trustees. We invite community feedback through attendance at this virtual meeting.
