Irondequoit Town recently issued the following announcement.
The Town of Irondequoit today announced the cancellation of the 2020 Oktoberfest due to the COVID-19 crisis. The festival was scheduled to be held the weekends of September 11th and September 18th. All vendors and performers have been notified and the festival is expected to return in 2021.
“Irondequoit has a long tradition of community gatherings and festivals that are widely attended by people throughout the Rochester region, but given the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Oktoberfest celebration,” said Supervisor Dave Seeley. “We look forward to holding the festival again in 2021 when we can do so in a way that protects the health and safety of our community.”
Hosted annually for over thirty years in the biggest tent in Upstate New York, Irondequoit’s Oktoberfest draws thousands of guests each day of the two-weekend festival, offering German music, food and beverages, and family entertainment. Many of the performers travel from out of country- some coming from Europe.
