The holiday season can bring both joy and stress, with many individuals experiencing heightened emotions during this time. The City of Rochester’s Crisis Intervention Services Unit is reminding residents of the support resources available to assist those who may find the season challenging.

According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 90% of people report increased stress levels in November and December due to various factors such as financial pressures and the absence of loved ones.

Mayor Malik D. Evans stated, “We want the community to know that there is help for anyone who may be struggling around this time of year.” He urged families to check on each other and utilize the resources offered by the City and community organizations. Mayor Evans expressed gratitude for the Crisis Intervention Services team, highlighting their daily efforts in supporting families facing crises or trauma.

For those experiencing an immediate mental health crisis, it is advised to call 211 or 988 and request assistance from the Person In Crisis (PIC) team. Additionally, the City’s Crisis Intervention Services’ Community Support Team offers guidance on accessing community support resources and can be contacted at 428-6630.
