Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced a public workshop for the Countywide Active Transportation Plan (CATP) will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at in the RTS Board Room at 1372 E. Main St., Rochester, 14609. The session will give residents and other stakeholders a chance to weigh in on investment priorities and facility preferences for walking and biking infrastructures.

“To shape an Active Transportation Plan that truly reflects the needs of our neighborhoods, we need to hear from our residents,” said County Executive Bello. “I invite our community to participate in this workshop and help us make Monroe County’s infrastructure better, safer and more accessible for everyone.”

The Monroe County Department of Planning is working in partnership with the Genesee Transportation Council to develop an Active Transportation Plan. The plan will outline goals and strategies to make self-propelled human-powered travel such as bicycling, rolling (wheelchair, scooter and stroller), hiking and running safer and more convenient for transportation and recreational purposes. The CATP process combines in-depth data collection with inclusive public engagement to promote health, equity and community resilience in Monroe County. Plan recommendations will help shape future transportation improvement projects that enhance safety, connectivity and transit access.

Members of the public may participate in the March 22 workshop any time during the two-hour session. Project Team Members will be available throughout the event to share information, answer questions and collect input.
