Mayor Malik D. Evans is inviting local professionals and youth aged 14–18 to participate in the Mayor’s Mentor Up Gala on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The Mayor’s Mentor Up program aims to foster mentorship relationships between adult community role models and city youth aged 14-18. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 8.

“I’m very proud of the youth who have taken part in the Mentor Up program so far and I’m especially grateful to the mentors who have stepped up to support them,” said Mayor Evans. “With the upcoming Winter Gala, we will continue to foster an environment where youth and local professionals can get together to grow and learn from one another. We are working hard to spark relationships that will help our youth build safe, prosperous futures and give professionals an opportunity to give back.”

The Mentor Up Winter Gala will provide a formal yet engaging environment where young people can practice their networking skills with peers and leaders, forming connections that could lead to mentor-mentee partnerships and potential career opportunities.

“I participated in Mentor Up for the first time over the summer, and it genuinely transformed my career outlook,” said mentee Takiyah Reid. “I was fortunate to connect with a mentor in the media field, who introduced me to an impressive network of professionals and valuable insights that I never imagined were available to me. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to apply for the Winter Gala—I definitely plan to seize this incredible opportunity!”
