Mayor Malik D. Evans, alongside Naomi Silver, President and CEO of the Rochester Red Wings, members of the Rochester City Council, and neighborhood leaders, gathered today to declare that Rochester’s Clean Sweep is set for Saturday, May 4. Mayor Evans expressed the significance of the event, stating, “Clean Sweep is a classic Rochester event that embodies the enormous spirit of pride that our citizens have in our community.”

Encouraging community involvement, Mayor Evans invited residents, community groups, sports teams, businesses, churches, and youth groups to participate in the annual spring cleanup. He emphasized the unity fostered by Clean Sweep, saying, “At Clean Sweep, we unite—friends, family, neighbors, and strangers—to beautify every corner of the city.”

The event is scheduled to commence at 8 a.m. on May 4, 2024, at Innovative Field, 1 Morrie Silver Way. Volunteers will receive a Clean Sweep t-shirt, enjoy a light breakfast, and be provided with gloves, tools, and bags before heading to their designated project sites. City crews will concurrently work on tasks like removing graffiti, cleaning city properties, repairing sidewalks, filling potholes, and planting flowers.

Upon completion of projects, volunteers will be transported back to Innovative Field to partake in a free Red Wings game and lunch. Interested groups and individuals can register by calling 311 or (585) 428-5990 (outside city limits) or online at www.cityofrochester.gov/cleansweep. Participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing, including hard-soled shoes and long pants, with gloves and tools provided on-site.

Evans to create a safe, equitable, and prosperous Rochester, aiming to inspire hope and deliver opportunities for everyone in the community.
