Mayor Malik D. Evans recently announced the opening of a new funding round for arts projects through ArtsBloom, a city initiative designed to support local artistic endeavors. According to the Mayor, “I love seeing artwork on display throughout the city. Public art plays a vital role in enhancing our environment and strengthening our sense of community. I encourage anyone who has a creative idea that needs funding to submit it to ArtsBloom for consideration and take advantage of this opportunity to bring your project to life.”
Artists and small arts organizations within the city are invited to apply for grants. Eligible projects should fit within arts education, literary arts, performing arts, or visual arts. ArtsBloom provides three different funding options, with a total fund of $100,000 allocated for 2025. Projects must be located within city limits, with applications due by 11:59 p.m. on May 11, 2025.
The program, which began two years ago, has already supported numerous cultural offerings, awarding $270,000 to 15 local arts organizations. These funds have enabled free cultural events, exhibitions, and performances, impacting approximately five thousand people. This initiative is a part of the city’s efforts to implement the Arts + Culture section of the Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan.
