Starting Monday, June 24, area residents will have more options to cool off as the City’s Genesee Valley Park (GVP) Sports Complex Outdoor Pool, located at 131 Elmwood Ave., and Durand Eastman Beach, situated at 1250 Lakeshore Blvd., open for summer activities.
While swimming is free at Durand Eastman Beach, Mayor Evans has waived weekend and some weekday swimming fees at the GVP pool. From June 24 through July 7, the GVP pool will operate on the following schedule:
**Open Swim:**
– Monday – Friday:
– 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
– 1 to 4:45 p.m.
– 6 to 8 p.m.
– Saturday and Sunday:
– 12 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. (free)
**Adult Lap Swim (ages 18 and up):**
– Monday to Friday:
– 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (free)
– 5 to 6 p.m.
– Saturday and Sunday:
– 4 to 6 p.m.
During Cool Sweeps, the GVP pool will be open from noon until 8 p.m. for open swim sessions with applicable fees.
From July 8 through September 2, the GVP pool schedule will change as follows:
**Open Swim:**
– Monday to Friday:
-1 to 4:45 p.m.
-6 to 8 p.m.
– Saturday and Sunday:
-12 p.m. to3:45p .m.(free)
